Angelopoulos at Altin Koza

The 17th annual Adana International Altin Koza Film Festival, one of the most important Turkish film festivals, will be held from the 7th to the 13th of June, 2010. The guest of honor will be the esteemed Greek director Theo Angelopoulos.

Angelopoulos, an intellectual who played an important part in Greece’s passage through the test of democracy following it’s escape from the junta, chronicles the extraordinary, sorrowful history of the 20th century in his films. The screening will be the first time the masterful director's films, such as Voyage to Cythera (Taxidi sta Kythira, 1984), Beekeeper (O melissokomos, 1986), Landscape in the Mist (Topio stin omichli, 1988), The Suspended Step of the Stork (Le Pas Suspendu De La Cigogne, 1991), Ulysses' Gaze (To vlemma tou Odyssea, 1995), Eternity and a Day (Mia aioniotita kai mia mera, 1998), and The Weeping Meadow (To Livadi pou dakryzei, 2004) have been publicly screened in Adana.

The famous director will meet cinegoers on Thursday, June 10, 2010 in an interview called “Angelopoulos’ Cinema.” In addition to Angelopoulos, the writer, director and scenarist Furuzan, Greek writer and scenarist Petros Markaris, who has written the screenplays for many of Angelopoulos’ films, film critic Dimitris Haritos and Necati Sonmez, who made the documentary Theo’s Viewpoint (Theo'nun Bakýţý) about Angelopoulos’ films in 2003, will attend the interview.

A catalogue will be issued about the famous director alongside an exhibition consisting of photographs from his sets that can be viewed throughout the festival at the 75. Yýl Art Gallery.

The festival’s customary Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Mujde Ar and the Honorary President of the Cinema Writers Association (SIYAD), Atilla Dorsay.

A sure hit for those who enjoy romantic comedies and want to see a fun, well-made film.
FAREWELL (VEDA) This film, directed by Zulfu Livaneli, tells the story of a period through the pen of Ataturk’s aide, Salih Bozok. The film addresses the topics of friendship, war, love and affection within the limits of “being human.”
