ANTALYA GAZIPASA PASSENGERS WELCOMED WITH FLOWERS

Antalya Gazipasa Airport, construction of which began in 1991, welcomed Borajet Airways flight BRJ600 as its first scheduled passenger flight on Monday July 12, 2010. Passengers on the ATR72 model aircraft, which took off at 11:20 from Istanbul and landed at Antalya Gazipasa Airport at 12:50, were welcomed by TAV Gazipasa executives with flowers.

As an aviation tradition, Borajets’s 66 seat aircraft was welcomed by TAV Antalya Gazipasa executives with a water-arch and great attention was shown to the first scheduled passengers to arrive at the airport. Among the first group of passengers were Borajet Airways General Manager Kadir Peker, local officials, representatives of several political and non-governmental organizations and executives of several institutions and tourism agencies which contribute to the tourism of the region.

Antalya Gazipasa Airport, the operational rights for belong to TAV Antalya Gazipasa until July 2034, has an annual capacity of 500,000 passengers, a 2,144 sq.m.terminal building and a parking lot with a capacity for 150 cars.

TAV Airports Holding was awarded the tender for operational rights of Antalya Gazipasa Airport on August 31, 2007 with its bid for annual rent of 50,000 US Dollars +VAT and transfer of 65% of operational profits to the state. The airport has gained importance with the acceleration in the development of the aviation sector in Turkey and is expected to play an important role in the development of Turkey’s tourism.
