The green companies, chosen as part of the “Green Airport“ project of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, are contributing to the cleaner environment of the future.

The TAV Istanbul Terminal Administration, which was awarded the title of a “Green Company” as part of the Green Airport Project, continues working on Ataturk Airport’s becoming a “Green Airport” in compliance with the roadmap of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation.

The TAV Istanbul Terminal Administration has become the first airport operator to earn the “Green Company” certificate as part of the “Green Airport” project of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications General Directorate of Civil Aviation. The Stitle “Green Company” in the project has now risen to seven.
TAV Istanbul, by participating in the “Green Airport” project implemented by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM), has brought a new dimension to its work through its protection of the environment, carried out at the Ataturk Airport through environmentally sensitive management. TAV Istanbul has become the first to receive the title of “Green Airport” in Turkey by applying the regulations of environmental legislation as well as the Green Airport project by systematically reducing and eliminating wasteful and polluting practices. For example, through implementation of the “Solid Waste Management Plan,” the recycling of packaging wastes (glass, plastic, paper etc.) and organic wastes is ongoing.
TAV Istanbul has begun efforts toward receiving the ”First Level Carbon Accreditation Certificate” awarded by Airports Council International (ACI), an international institution which has had gained prestige in the worldwide aviation sector. TAV Istanbul is developing sustainable development policies and following the environmental applications in order to reduce and control the effects of air, water, soil, and noise pollution.
