SHELL & TURCAS AND TAV OPENS “THIS CITY OF ISTANBUL” TO THE WORLD

A compilation of photographs of Istanbul taken by photographer Tahsin Aydogmus, selected from the book “This City of Istanbul” is being presented by Shell &Turcas in an exhibition being held at the international art platform TAV Gallery in the Istanbul Ataturk Airport International Terminal. Supporting the historical, cultural and art activities as part of their social responsibility mission; Shell & Turcas has compiled 105 unique photographs of Istanbul from Tahsin Aydogmus's perspective in the book “This City of Istanbul” and presented it to our cultural world. “This City of Istanbul” has been on display at various locations showcasing the photographs selected from the book. This time, the exhibition was opened, in collaboration with TAV Airports, at Atatürk Airport visited by 90 thousand passengers a day from different destinations. The opening ceremony which was held at TAV Gallery, Istanbul Atatürk Airport International Terminal, was attended by Istanbul Deputy Mayor and Local Authority Ahmet Aydin, TAV Airports CEO M. Sani Sener, Shell &Turcas Petrol Board Member Yilmaz Tecmen and the President of Shell Turkey Ahmet Erdem, as well as a large group of guests. Consisting of 105 black & white photographs printed with an archival technique and published in both Turkish and English, the book "This City of Istanbul" has three sections; "Time," "Sea" and "Human." On display for the next month, the "This City of Istanbul" exhibition consists of 40 photographs selected from the book. Photographer Tahsin Aydogmus commented that he was very pleased to see “This City of Istanbul” photographs being exhibited at an unusual location like Atatürk Airport International Terminal. Aydogmus said "Exhibition of the photographs at TAV Gallery created the opportunity for people across the world to view them at an international platform” and highlighted that Istanbul, in any case, has many international features with its spirit and location. Adding that he has been receiving so many phone calls every day since the exhibition was opened and says that the most unexpected call came from Steve McCurry, renowned by his photograph “Afghani Girl”. 
*Passing by Istanbul Atatürk Airport, Steve McCurry, the photographer renowned by its photograph “Afghani Girl” personally called the artist Tahsin Aydogmus and told him that he had a chance to visit “This City of Istanbul” exhibition at TAV Gallery twice and liked it very much. |
