Second Training Program Cycle for

Future Airport Operations Managers

The second cycle of the Training Program for Future Airport Operations Managers planned by the TAV Academy with the aim of managing the abilities within the institution, as a whole inclusive of vision, strategic targets and corporate culture, began on 7 September 2009.

The aim of ability management programs is to develop intellectual capital that provides added value to the institution and to the job being carried out. This reinforces corporate learning by means of active knowledge management, thus influencing corporate culture and business results, ensuring profitable and sustainable competitive advantage for the institution.

Forming the necessary strategic management conception is necessary so as to be able to predict and thus shape the future. It is with the aim of ensuring the development of managers and workers within the framework of these needs and of directing them towards innovative and creative targets within the context of the founding vision, that the TAV Academy designs ability management programs and ensures the participation of TAV employees.

The proposed candidates for the “Training program for Future Airport Operations Managers,” organized by TAV Airports with the aim of forming the pool for the next generation of managers, are first of all chosen through the common preferences of department heads and Human Resources managers. Then their lists are submitted for approval to Upper Management. Following a process of pre-evaluation, the approved candidates will be admitted to the program after having been interviewed.

Twenty people drawn from TAV Istanbul, TAV Esenboða, Havaþ and ATÜ employees have been admitted to the II Training program for Future Airport Operations Managers. The aim is to ensure that the candidates should acquire theoretical and practical knowledge related to their professional and technical specializations by means of the development programs, in which they will be taking part for six months. The program will include technical and functional development programs and on the job training, as well as personal development and management capabilities training.

At the end of the program, participants have the opportunity to present within the context of creative and innovative ideas, the knowledge and skills acquired during the program by preparing projects that they think will provide added value to TAV Airports. Those participants who have been found to be successful as a result of evaluations carried out by instructors and managers, during the program receive a TAV Academy Airport Management Certificate.

The “Airport Marketing and Route Development" training program has been designed with the aim of informing managers and employees working in the marketing, business development, operation and terminal management departments of international airports about marketing strategies that might be effective as far as commercial success is concerned, as well as about flight route establishment approaches, so that they might be able to develop business relations with airports and air transport companies.

Managers of airports in Bulgaria, Norway, Poland and Switzerland, as well as participants from the TAV Group, who made up the majority of participants, took part in this training that was held on 25-27 August 2009.
