With its ever increasing business volume and successful projects contracted abroad, TAV Construction was granted the “Successful Turkish Contractors Award,” earning a place among the "Largest 225 International Contracting Companies in the World” in 2009. On behalf of TAV Construction, TAV Group CEO M. Sani Þener received the prize presented by Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoðan.
At the award ceremony, participated in by Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoðan, success plaques were presented to Turkish construction companies placing among the "Largest 225 International Contracting Companies in the World.” TAV Construction, entering the list by signing the most important projects in its region, was granted the “Successful Turkish Contractors Award” at the award ceremony organized by the Undersecretary of Foreign Trade and Union of Turkish Contractors. Minister of Transportation Binali Yýldýrým, Minister of Public Works and Settlement Mustafa Demir and State Minister Zafer Çaðlayan attended the award ceremony. In his speech at the award ceremony, Minister Çaðlayan, stating that they visited primary countries together with Turkish consultancy, contractor and construction material sectors, said that the Turkish contracting sector has achieved significant success in the world. He said that “Turks are also present in this sector” and that they are expecting the sector to be first in the world within the foreseeable future, reaching a 50 billion dollar share of the world market in a few years.
TAV CONSTRUCTION CREATES DISTINCTION THROUGH TECHNOLOGY
The most important characteristic that differentiates TAV Construction from an ordinary construction company is its technological superiority. TAV Construction, also providing consultancy in the field of airport infrastructure, for which there is increasing demand in the world, is constructing “smart buildings” in the Gulf region which have great business potential and require high technology.
TAV Construction completed construction of the Istanbul Ataturk Airport International Terminal, Ankara Esenboga International and Domestic Terminal, Izmir International Terminal and renovation projects at the domestic terminals of Ataturk and Adnan Menderes Airports. Abroad, the company has realized the construction projects of Tbilisi and Batumi International Airports in Georgia, Cairo International Airport TB3 Terminal in Egypt and Enfidha Zine El Abidine Ben Ali International Airport in Tunisia. Furthermore, the company has signed onto many projects in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Tunisia and Libya. TAV Construction has completed a total of six airports with these projects and work is in progress at five airports.

Architecture Award to Cairo Airport
GMW Architects, with Headquarters in London, won the "British Expertise International Award for a Consultancy Project," one of the most prestigious architecture prizes of England, for its architectural interior design and coordination work for the Cairo International Airport TB3 Terminal. The Third Terminal Building of Cairo International Airport - fitting well to the city of a construction miracle, the Egyptian Pyramids – has gained prestige for a project befitting a city of construction wonders through TAV expertise. Cairo, the heart of ancient Egyptian culture, greets millions of passengers from all over the world coming to visit the Egyptian Pyramids and the treasures of Tutankhamen at the new international terminal.
The project, with an approximately 205,000 m2 covered area and 550,000 m2 ramp, increased the total capacity of Cairo Airport to 22 million passengers by bringing an additional capacity of 11 million passengers per year.
The terminal, opened by Egyptian Minister of State, Hosni Mübarek, is the first and largest airport project contracted and completed by TAV Construction abroad. TAV Construction plays an important role in the created value by displaying the ability to combine a design fit for airport ergonomics, bearing modern and artistic value with high construction expertise and perfect project management.
AN OVERVIEW OF CAIRO PROJECT
• The construction tender of Cairo Airport New International and Domestic Terminal - 70 percent of the budget of which was financed by the World Bank and 30 percent by the Egyptian Government - was realized on 15 June 2004.
• A total 205,000 m2 of terminal building, 550,000 m2 of ramp and driveway was constructed.
• There are 23 bridges, 6 check-in islands, 7 luggage intake conveyors, 164 elevators, escalators and bands at the three-storey terminal, where domestic and international flights are handled.
• A total of 5,000 people–1,200 of which were Turkish, 3,000 Egyptian, and the rest from 11 different countries--were employed in the project, for which 150 engineers worked.
