Working on fire fighting procedures in all buildings and areas within the boundaries of Istanbul Atatürk Airport, the TAV Fire Brigade is always prepared for intervention and to ensure safety.
Beginning operations under the umbrella of TAV Istanbul in July 2010 with five fire officers, the TAV Fire Brigade has become a strong team as of August 2011, including a fire chief and eight highly-skilled fire fighters.
AREAS OF ACTIVITY
The coverage zone of the TAV Fire Brigade includes Istanbul Atatürk Airport International Terminal, the Multi-Storey and Open Car Parks, Domestic Terminal, General Aviation Terminal, Trigeneration Plant and the Holding Headquarters. The TAV Fire Brigade undertakes many fire prevention activities as well as improving its fire fighting skills at buildings and locations within the grounds of Istanbul Atatürk Airport. As part of the fire safety regulations instituted at the airport, such responsibilities include carrying out fire safety and risk assessments, monitoring compliance with existing regulations, identifying noncompliance and submitting the results to TAV Istanbul Management in a report including corrective actions. Despite all precautions, in the event that a fire does break out at the airport, the TAV Fire Brigade also undertakes extensive training in evacuation procedures, first aid and rescue, as well as managing fires and extinguishing them as quickly as possible. When executing fire fighting protocols, the brigade conveys information and works alongside DHMI (General Directorate of State Airports Authority) Fire Brigade and Istanbul Fire Units, whom they are liable to call in case of a fire.
