Established following the success of the TAV Sports Club, the TAV Workshop introduces a creative forum which encourages artistic expression.
The success of the TAV Sports Club, which brought the TAV Family together with the participation of TAV Group CEO M. Sani Sener and other executives in an environment outside of work, encouraged the development of a new project within the TAV Group. The arts-oriented TAV Workshop, which aims to encourage and support for creativity and artistic expression, has now been added to the TAV Sports Club, which has shown that in-house activity that plays a large role in employee performance and motivation.
Having observed the significant achievements of the TAV Sports Club during the last three years in football, chess, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and bowling, - which has involved 1700 employees - the TAV Group came to the conclusion that hobby clubs would fill a large gap. So the TAV Group decided, as a result of surveys and evaluations, to establish the TAV Workshop, another artistic endeavor coming on the heels of its award winning project carried out for the 2010 Financial Report involving a photography shoot at the Dance Workshop. As part of this project, employees representing the companies within the TAV Group were the stars of photography reflecting the concept of “the art of service” through their dance figures.
“COLLECTIVE CREATIVITY”
TAV Aiports Holding Corporate Communication Coordinator Bengi Vargul states that, “Due to the nature of their jobs, TAV employees are rather experienced in collective creativity. The purpose here was to volunteer and get together outside work, engage in the hobbies they like and perhaps allow them to seek out new horizons.” Vargul adds that they are very pleased with the level of participation in the TAV Workshop and the results achieved.
Highlighting the role of arts-oriented activities, particularly, in personal development as well as in job productivity, Vargul is confident that they will be as successful in art as they were in sports.
MASTERS OF ART AT THE TAV WORKSHOP
Renowned photographer Muammer Yanmaz explains to participants the details of photography in theoretical and practical terms during the lessons he teaches at the TAV Workshop. Well-known for his choral works in music, famous pianist Celik Kasapoglu has already formed an employee chorus. The Argentine Tango Classes taught by H. Cahit Karaata are one of the most popular activities among the TAV employees. These lessons require high concentration as well as surrender to the music and dance steps. Painting classes taught by Asli Bicer have already produced sufficient number of paintings to open an exhibition.
MOTIVATION FOR LIFE
Opened in February 2011, the TAV Workshop, a “corporate social meeting forum,” will continue in its mission to provide attendees with new areas of motivation in life with courses in music, dance, painting and photography.
*The leaders of music, dance, painting and photography courses expressed that they would undertake distinctive projects at TAV Workshop, the corporate social meeting platform.
Having 20,000 employees, the TAV Group -from blue collar to senior management- is very happy to get together during these sports and art activities.
TAV Istanbul Human Resources Specialist Gonca Aksoy says that the TAV Workshop, which provides an opportunity to be taught by a professional photographer such as Muammer Yanmaz is a very successful undertaking. She shares her observations as a human resources specialist: “As our motivation increases within the fun and relaxed environment that the classes create, our team spirit and creative potential also emerge. These are very valuable experiences for both our business and private lives.”
TAV Airports Holding Finance Director Deniz Aydin has attended the Dance Workshop as a team leader. Having reached a certain level of proficiency after eight years of dancing lessons, Aydin appraises the TAV Workshop activities being held under the roof of the corporation “as a great opportunity.” Believing that everyone should have a hobby they enjoy, Aydin expresses that Argentine Tango increases the adaptation and concentration skills which are very important for business life. She continues: “Activities like the TAV Workshop not only bring some action and fun into life, but also increase self-confidence and communication, rule out any discrimination and help to establish a balance between our business and personal lives. Furthermore, they contribute to creating a more energetic and positive working environment by improving team spirit.“
Attending the music workshop, TAV Airports Holding Executive Assistant Filiz Tuzgu believes that the TAV Workshop project is a very special investment TAV has made in its human resources. “All of us wish to have a hobby and often dream about this. However, the difficulty in sparing time for our hobbies during our busy schedules and the high costs involved in getting quality training are the factors that sometimes lead us to give up on these dreams. The TAV Workshop brings reputable artists to our doorstep with no cost to us and helps make our dreams come true. I hope everyone takes advantage of the TAV Workshop”.
Havas Operations Coordination Department Assistant Personnel Specialist Fatma Ciner adds that she found an opportunity to re-develop the skill that she had put aside long ago by attending the painting workshop. Ciner said, “Our group, which includes different employees from different companies, levels and departments within TAV, have mixed very well in a very short period of time. I cannot think of a more productive and successful example of an arts-oriented motivation.” She also highlights the role of the TAV Workshop in reducing work stress and increasing communication within the company positively.
