FRESH BLOOD FOR THE ANTALYA ECONOMY

THE FIRST FLIGHT FOR GAZİPAŞA AIRPORT

The first flight, a private, 8 seater plane carrying TAV Airports Holding Sani Şener and his entourage, landed at the Antalya Gazipaşa Airport, an airport expected to bring about an increase in the tourist income of the region.

The Gazipaşa Airport, whose construction began 19 years ago in Antalya, was opened to air traffic on 13 July 2009. The first plane to land in the airport was a private, 8 seater plane that carried TAV Airports Holding CEO Sani Şener and his entourage. Şener said that, like engineers who stand under a bridge they have constructed when the first vehicle crosses, they carried out the first landing at the newly opened airport, taking great pleasure in doing so. Stating that they believed from the very beginning Gazipaşa would open and be successful, Şener remarked that the first flight was extremely comfortable and safe.

Impact on the regional economy
Gazipaşa Airport, the opening of which was widely anticipated among local and international passengers, has opened to air traffic with the reference code of 2C and soon, once land expropriation has been completed and the necessary standards have been achieved in the strip field, it will open with the reference code of 3C.
Within the scope of marketing and promotion activities, Civil Aviation bodies and airline companies all over the world have been informed of the opening of the Antalya Gazipaşa Airport. Besides scheduled flights that will begin taking place in the near future, charter flights and private jet flights are expected to increase and to boost the tourism potential of the region, making a major contribution to the regional economy. Local trades people, who for years have been experiencing the difficulty of not having an airport in the area, now comment that they can envisage their future, that they believe the airport will double the income of the region due to both tourism and real estate.

Open also to international flights
Gazipaşa has also procedurally opened to international flights. Following passport procedures, Sani Şener and his entourage flew to Riyadh as the first international passengers of the airport.
TAV Airports Holding will operate Gazipaşa for 25 years. It is planned to become an operationally low cost airport with a high number of international passengers.
