THE INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT
CODE FOR GAZIPASA: “GZP”

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that an international flight code has been ascribed to the Gazipaşa Airport of which TAV Airports has undertaken the operation.
IATA evaluated the appeal of Turkish Airlines (THY), and in the meeting held on May 14th designated the international flight code of the Gazipaşa Airport as “GZP”. The decision, upon request, was notified to the Municipality of Alanya by fax.
Alanya’s Mayor Hasan Sipahioğlu emphasized the importance of this development, stating that IATA’s ascription of an international flight code carries great significance on the international platform for an airport.
Sipahioğlu went on to express that any willing airline company would be able to add Gazipaşa Airport to its flight program by virtue of this code, adding: “With this code we now debut in the international arena. Gazipaşa Airport, which has a customs area and is open to international flights, has taken an important step by entering the IATA list, of which it was not a part before. We think it will now develop with increasing momentum.”
Reiterating that IATA ascribed the code as a result of THY’s appeal on the grounds that it is the national airline of Turkey, Sipahioğlu said, “That the code is “GZP” means that the name of the airport will also gain recognition on the international stage.”
