TAV Airports Holding (TAV Airports Holding) participated in the Timetable Conference in Vancouver, Canada held on 19-22 November 2009. The conference is organized by IATA twice a year for the purpose of determining flight schedules for the summer and winter seasons. During these conferences, Airport planners and slot coordinators meet to work on time schedule portfolios and determine the time tables of the next season.
MANAGING AIRFREIGHT TRAFFIC WITHOUT PROBLEMS
A “slot” means that, within certain time intervals, reserving the Airport’s ground, parking and terminal capacities for landing and departing carriers. This includes managing airfreight traffic, eliminating any possible inefficiency, and managing permission of airport usage to use the ground and infrastructure effectively. All these permissions are mixed and time schedules are fixed in this way.
In the Airports of Turkey, TAV is responsible only for terminal operations. For this reason, slot coordination for the air-section and time-schedule feasibility studies are done by the Slot Coordination Units of the Civil Aviation Office. As far as the overseas operations of TAV is concerned, since terminal and air-section operations are both included under its responsibility, time-schedules and slot coordination are managed by TAV.
FLIGHTS AND ENFIDHA INFORMATION WAS GIVEN
During the Timetable Conference, TAV passed on requests from the Turkish Airports to Civil Aviation, while mixing the slot demands belonging to its overseas operations. TAV representatives attended meetings with airfreight company planning units in private meetings and at TAV stands. Subjects such as the organizing of new flights to airports and flight increases were discussed. The timing of this conference was very important for TAV because of the opening of the new Enfidha Zine El bidine Ben Ali International Airport in Tunisia. Tav Representatives had the chance to with planners from the 48 Airline Companies which will be flying to Tunisia and promoted flights to Enfidha in the new season.
